Grade school students learn about the Tarahumara
Eight second grade students at the Hamilton School at Wheeler listened to our
Brown University MAT intern teacher read us the book, Children of the Sierra
Madre. We decided we wanted to do something to help the Raramuri children.
First we did more research and we learned a lot. We made a slide show with the
help of our classroom teachers and our computer teacher. We showed the slide
show at different assemblies to teach others in our school about what we
learned. The other 2 second grade classrooms joined us in learning about the
Raramuri people. Together with them we made Raramuri bookmarks and baked
goods to sell. We raised more than $500.00.
Here's the kid's slide show. Click on the picture for a larger view.

Thank you to the kids at Hamilton School, and teacher Linda Atamian for
sharing their learning experience with us!
