Kiwanis International Foundation
provides medicine
In early November 2000, at the meeting of Kiwanis International
Board of Trustees, the TCHF was awarded a grant of $12,000 for funding to
purchase medication for hospital care for the Tarahumara Indian tribe children
in Creel, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Father Verplancken and Father Herrera and the hospital staff
want to express their gratitude to Kiwanis Foundation for their generous
contribution in helping the underprivileged children receive life saving
medication.
The International Foundation financially supports service
programs to meet the needs of young children. It also provides funding for
a variety of purposes, from removal of landmines to disaster relief as well as
rewarding outstanding leaders in the middle school / junior high of their
Builders Club.
The grant money awarded to TCHF will be used to supply the
needed medication to the hospital pharmacy for six weeks. It truly is a
wonderful and timely gift since the expectation of young patients is extremely
high due to the persistent drought plaguing the area.
